Important note for this meeting: There is a space limit of 28 so you must RSVP early to assure a spot. Thanks
For this month’s meeting on Monday, August 17th we will spend a relaxed evening in the past onboard the 1909, 92′ MV Lotus moored at the bottom of Lake Union. (Yes, we are meeting on a boat a link to directions are below and on the MV Lotus website above.) We’ll socialize while staying at the dock. It’s a potluck dinner, so for this meeting we are asking everyone to bring a favorite main dish, salad or dessert to share and whatever you want to drink or wine to share. Plates, flatwear and glasses and coffee will be available, no need to bring. If you haven’t seen the renovations at the end of the Lake, this is your chance. Come earlier in the day and tour the Museum of History and Industry. (Here is a link to the presentation given to our group about MV Lotus).
The Lotus crew has a group of volunteers and they are actively looking for more. You’ll have a chance to see what that opportunity is if it sounds interesting to you. They do tours and events on the Lotus in costume, making it a true trip into the past. For those of you who rarely dip into the Edwardian era end of your closet, Christian Gruge and our own Lynn Reister, are our hosts for the evening. Christian’s family owned the Lotus for years* They encourage anyone who desires, to come in costume. (quasi Edwardian or Steam Punk were the ideas offered, (Vivian and I did a Google image search for Steam Punk and decided we definitely couldn’t pull that off, lol). Casual attire is fine, no costume required, but maybe you have a “hat from the past” that you never get a chance to wear. (* Lotus is now owned by the M. V. Lotus Foundation.)
You must RSVP asap at email@example.com for this meeting as there is a space limit. If you have said you’re coming but your plans change please let us know as there may be a waiting list. Come and enjoy the evening.
