Update on meeting location: We were unable to locate a meeting place up north, so the meeting will be held as usual in the NMTA conference room behind Fisheries Supply in Seattle. We’ll try another time for a northern gathering.
One of the goals of Northwest Women in Boating is to provide inspiration for women on the water; role models for their on the water adventures in the Northwest and beyond. There are some amazing women around the area who definitely fill that role. Reanne Hemingway-Douglass, who has cruised with her husband from Alaska to Cape Horn, is one of the early members of that group of inspirational women. Reanne has logged more than 150,000 miles of offshore cruising over the past 25 years.
She didn’t just travel those miles, she and her husband wrote about their experiences. You will enjoy meeting Reanne as she presents a program. focusing on her book that started their writing adventures titled, Cape Horn: One Man’s Dream, One Woman’s Nightmare (you’ll learn you can pitchpole in the Great Southern Ocean and survive).
Cruising the region, they felt they could do a better job than the cruising guides available, so they established Fine Edge Publishing. Northwest Cruisers are familiar with their Exploring Series Cruising Guides covering the Pacific Coast, Northwest, British Columbia and Alaskan waters.) You can read more about her cruising and writing adventures at the Fine Edge Authors page.
We hope you can join us for this inspirational program.
Meeting Date and Time: Monday September 19th 7 pm to 9 pm. (Hors d oeuvres, snacks, wine, etc. are welcomed but not required. We enjoy socializing after the presentation.)
