NWWB Meeting July 17th Spend An Evening in the Past Onboard the 1909 MV Lotus

NWWB Gals enjoying an evening on the Lotus in 2015

Hi Gals,

Important notes for this meeting: This will be a potluck dinner and there is a space limit of 28 so you must RSVP early to assure a spot. Also, as the Lotus Foundation was gracious in their willingness to host us onboard their amazing vessel for a pleasant evening, we are asking for a $10 donation for them if you plan to attend. We will collect donations that evening.  Our potluck onboard in 2015 was an idyllic evening, don’t miss this opportunity.  Thank you.

For this month’s meeting on Monday, July 17th  we will spend a relaxed evening immersed in maritime history onboard the 1909, 92′ MV Lotus moored at the bottom of Lake Union. (Yes, we are meeting on a boat a link to directions are below and on the MV Lotus website above.) We’ll socialize while staying at the dock. It’s a POTLUCK DINNER, so for this meeting we are asking everyone to bring a favorite main dish, salad or dessert to share and whatever you want to drink or wine to share. Plates, flatwear and glasses and coffee will be available, no need to bring. If you haven’t seen the renovations at the end of the Lake, this is your chance. Come earlier in the day and tour the Museum of History and Industry. (Here is a link to the presentation given to our group about MV Lotus).

The Lotus crew has a group of volunteers and they are actively seeking more. You’ll have a chance to see what that opportunity is if it sounds interesting to you. They do tours and events on the Lotus in costume, making it a true trip into the past. For those of you who rarely dip into the Edwardian era end of your closet, Christian Gruge will be our hosts for the evening. Christian’s family owned the Lotus for years* They encourage anyone who desires, to come in costume. (quasi Edwardian or Steam Punk were the ideas offered, Casual attire is fine, no costume required, but maybe you have a “hat from the past” that you never get a chance to wear. (* Lotus is now owned by the M. V. Lotus Foundation.)

You must RSVP asap at nwwbviv@gmail.com for this meeting as there is a space limit. If you have said you’re coming but your plans change please let us know as there may be a waiting list. Come and enjoy the evening.

I will be unable to attend this year–darn it!–because I will have a grand niece and nephew visiting from Illinois.

    Have fun! Cindy Faw
