NWWB Notes: Meeting Mon. Nov. 18 Open To Husbands And Significant Others 6 spots left – Enjoy Favorite Places In SE Alaska

RSVP required (6 spots left) for this special trip up and through S.E. Alaska by a couple women who know the territory well. And, for this interesting program we are welcoming husbands and significant others who might like to accompany you.

Come and enjoy a discussion of each of their 5 favorite places on the way to and in S.E. Alaska shared by Elsie Hulsizer and Mary Campbell. And, those of you who’ve been there, plan to share, as well.

When Elsie Hulsizer and her husband Steve set off on their fifth trip to SE Alaska in 2013, they were determined to explore parts of SE Alaska they had never seen before. Blessed by the best summer in Alaska in 30 years, they found not just new destinations but new (sunny) perspectives on the old ones.

Elsie is the author of  Glaciers, Bears and Totems: Sailing in Search of the Real Southeast Alaska and Voyages to Windward: Sailing Adventures on Vancouver Island’s West Coast

Mary Campbell has been sailing and cruising seriously for the last 25 years.  Her first sailboat was a Tom Colvin-designed aluminum junk rigged schooner that she single-handed back from Glacier Bay in 2008.

Longing to return to Alaska, she finally headed north again in her current boat, a Cascade 36 sloop, sailing from Olympia to Seward in May and June of 2015.  She spent July and August 2015 exploring the Kenai peninsula, crossing Cook Inlet to visit the Katmai reserve, and cruising Prince William Sound.  The boat wintered over in Seward.

In 2016 Mary brought it from Seward through Prince William Sound and back across the Gulf of Alaska to SE Alaska.  After 6 more weeks tucking into various anchorages in SE Alaska, the boat ended up in Petersburg where she wintered over.
