WEEKEND NAVIGATOR – USCG Auxiliary Navigation Course

Date: Starts Tues, Feb 12, 2013 (7 PM – 9:30 PM); runs for 10 weeks.
Location: Chuck Olson Chevrolet, 17037 Aurora Ave N., Shoreline WA 98133 (classroom above Service Center)
Description of course – Learn How to:
Read a chart; use buoys and markers; work with currents and tides (specific to the Pacific Northwest); use your electronic chartplotter (GPS) and plot routes with both paper charts and chartplotters; navigate underway; use your Autopilot; understand AIS; use your Radar. You’ll catch up on the latest in navigation electronics, including dedicated marine instruments, tablets, and smartphones. This class will prepare you to navigate safely for anything from local day trips to longer range cruising along the Inside Passage.
Class Fee: $95/student or $145 for two sharing one book. Includes “The Weekend Navigator” textbook, chart, and study guide.
